Times Supermarket

Times Supermarket is a prominent grocery chain in Hawaii, established in 1949 by brothers Albert and Wallace Teruya, sons of Okinawan immigrants. Over the decades, it has grown to include 17 Times Supermarket locations, five Big Save Markets, Shima’s Supermarket, Fujioka’s Wine Times, and operates 13 in-store full-service pharmacies across Oahu and Maui.

The supermarket chain is committed to providing island-style friendly service, exceptional value with everyday low prices, and quality products. Their offerings include Sterling Silver Premium Beef and Pork, farm-fresh produce, and a variety of grocery items.

Additionally, Times Supermarket operates full-service pharmacies in many of its locations, offering services such as prescription refills, health consultations, and over-the-counter medications.

In 2017, Times Supermarket was acquired by Pan Pacific International Holdings Corp., which has over 700 retail shops throughout Asia, Hawaii, and California. This acquisition has allowed Times Supermarket to expand its offerings and enhance its services to better serve the Hawaiian community.

In February 2024, the Times Supermarket in Kailua closed after nearly 70 years of operation. It was replaced by Hawaii’s first Tokyo Central, an Asian specialty market offering a wide variety of imported Japanese grocery products, including snacks, beverages, ice cream, liquor, toys, housewares, and beauty care products.
