Three Dots and a Dash

Three Dots and a Dash is a renowned tiki bar located in Chicago's River North neighborhood. Established in 2013, it has become a cornerstone of the city's vibrant cocktail scene, offering an immersive experience that transports guests to a tropical paradise.

The bar's name is inspired by a classic tiki cocktail from the 1940s, named after the Morse code for the letter "V," symbolizing "Victory" during World War II. This historical reference sets the tone for the establishment's ambiance and offerings.

Upon entering, patrons are greeted by a discreet alleyway entrance off Hubbard Street, leading to a staircase adorned with a blue wall of skulls and accompanied by drum music. The interior is a homage to 1940s island-themed decor, featuring a thatched roof, colorful lighting, and ceramic tiki mugs.

The main room boasts 15 booths, 7 tables, and a bar with 18 stools, accommodating up to 240 guests.

Beverage Program

The beverage program is led by Beverage Director Kevin Beary, who has meticulously curated a collection of over 300 rums from regions such as St. Lucia, Martinique, Barbados, and Guyana. The menu features a variety of cocktails, including classics like the "Three Dots & A Dash," "Jet Pilot," and "Saturn," each crafted with unique ingredients and presented in custom tiki mugs.

For larger gatherings, the bar offers group cocktails like the "Treasure Chest No. 1," a $385 drink that includes rums, juices, and Dom Pérignon Champagne, served in a treasure chest.

Food Offerings

In addition to its extensive cocktail menu, Three Dots and a Dash serves Polynesian-inspired small bites such as:

The Bamboo Room

For those seeking a more intimate experience, the Bamboo Room, a 22-seat space within the bar, offers a unique setting with a curated selection of rare and esoteric rums. This area allows for interactive service, with bartenders serving drinks and pouring some tableside.

The Bamboo Room also hosts guest bartenders, classes, and special events by distilleries.
