About The Country Club of Virginia
The Country Club of Virginia (CCV), established in 1908, is a private, family-oriented social club located in Richmond, Virginia. Spanning 1,111 acres, CCV offers its members a diverse array of programs, activities, facilities, and services across two campuses situated approximately seven miles apart.
Golf Facilities
CCV boasts three 18-hole golf courses:
- Westhampton Course: Opened in 1910, this course was originally designed by Herbert Barker and later renovated by Donald Ross in 1920. It features gently rolling fairways amidst majestic pine and oak forests, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.
- James River Course: Designed by William Flynn and opened in 1928, this course has hosted notable events, including the 1955 and 1975 U.S. Amateur Championships. It has also been the venue for the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, a PGA TOUR Champions event, since 2016.
- Tuckahoe Creek Course: Opened in 1988 and designed by Joe Lee, this course is set on over 240 acres of land that was once part of Thomas Jefferson's boyhood home. It features 76 bunkers and seven lakes, offering a challenging layout for golfers.
Clubhouses and Amenities
CCV operates two clubhouses:
- James River Clubhouse: Located at 709 South Gaskins Road, Richmond, VA 23238, this clubhouse serves as the hub for the James River Course.
- Westhampton Clubhouse: Situated at 6031 Saint Andrews Lane, Richmond, VA 23226, this clubhouse is associated with the Westhampton Course.
In addition to golf, CCV offers a fitness and racquet sports complex, five swimming pools, a state-of-the-art golf practice facility, multiple dining options, and venues for special events such as weddings, corporate meetings, and family celebrations.
