Texas Tech University (TTU), established on February 10, 1923, in Lubbock, Texas, is a comprehensive public research institution dedicated to excellence in higher education, research, and community service.

Academic Programs and Research
TTU provides over 150 bachelor's, 104 master's, and 59 doctoral degree programs across various disciplines. The university comprises ten colleges and two schools, including the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the College of Media & Communication.
TTU is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" and hosts 55 research centers and institutes. Research expenditures totaled $226.7 million in 2022.
Student Life and Campus
With an enrollment of approximately 40,969 students as of fall 2024, TTU is the sixth-largest university in Texas. The campus spans 1,839 acres and features Spanish Renaissance architecture, with many buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Students can engage in over 600 clubs and organizations, including the Goin' Band from Raiderland, a 450-member band performing at various events.
Athletics
Known as the Red Raiders, TTU's athletic teams compete in NCAA Division I FBS as part of the Big 12 Conference.
The Lady Raiders women's basketball team won the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship in 1993.
