Acquisition Attempt
In August 2023, Tapestry announced plans to acquire Capri Holdings, the parent company of Versace, Michael Kors, and Jimmy Choo, in an $8.5 billion deal. This strategic move aimed to position Tapestry as a formidable competitor in the luxury fashion industry.
However, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit to block the acquisition, citing concerns over reduced competition in the affordable luxury handbag market. Subsequently, Tapestry abandoned the acquisition plans in November 2024.

Under the leadership of CEO Joanne Crevoiserat, who took the helm in 2020, Tapestry has focused on expanding its digital presence and enhancing customer engagement.
The company has leveraged generative AI to personalize online shopping experiences, catering to preferences of younger consumers, particularly Gen Z and millennials.
