Superlo Foods

Superlo Foods, established in 1944 by brothers Jack, Wesley, and Kenneth Stepherson, is a locally owned and 100% employee-owned grocery chain based in Memphis, Tennessee.

Over the decades, the company has expanded its footprint, operating eight Superlo Foods locations and one Stepherson's store. All are committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional service at affordable prices.

History and Growth

The company's journey began with a single store in East Memphis, which quickly became a neighborhood staple. In the 1950s, Superlo Foods expanded to locations like Poplar-Perkins and Poplar-Colonial.

The Spottswood store opened in 1981, followed by the Macon Road store in 1960. In 2000, the company introduced the Superlo Foods concept, steadily growing to serve communities such as North Memphis, Frayser, and Hickory Hill.

A significant milestone occurred in 2010 when Superlo Foods transitioned to an employee-owned corporation, fostering a sense of ownership among all team members.

In 2011, Superlo Foods centralized its operations with a new warehouse and office on American Way, streamlining processes and maintaining competitive pricing.

The company's expansion continued with the opening of Superlo Foods #5 in Southaven, Mississippi, in 2012, and further within Memphis with Superlo Foods #6 on Quince Road, Superlo Foods #7 on S. Perkins, and Superlo Foods #8 on Lamar Avenue.
