About Suffolk County Sheriff's Department
The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department (SCSD), headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, is the largest correctional institution in the state and the 16th largest among over 3,000 sheriff's offices nationwide.
Under the leadership of Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins, who has been with the department since 2002 and was appointed sheriff in 2013, SCSD is dedicated to enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth and ensuring the safety and security of Suffolk County residents.
