Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community is located in West Columbia, South Carolina, and is the only Episcopal-sponsored, non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in the greater Columbia area.

Established in 1977, it offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including:

The Marshall A. Shearouse Center for Wellness, open to adults 55 and over, includes a heated indoor pool, fitness center, and classrooms for various classes like yoga and tai chi.

Rehabilitative services assist with speedy recoveries, and programs like Solutions for Living at Home support residents aging in place.

History and Mission

The community's mission is rooted in a rich history starting in the early 1800s when surveyor John Gabriel Guignard established a plantation named Still Hopes.

In 1910, his son built a Victorian mansion that now serves as the community's focal point.

In 1977, Dr. Jane Bruce Guignard bequeathed the property to the Episcopal Church as a retirement home for women, which later expanded to serve seniors of all genders.

In 1983, the mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, Still Hopes serves over 400 residents and employs more than 700 staff members, providing personalized and compassionate care in a warm, inviting environment.
