STANLEY M ISAACS NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER

The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center is a non-profit, multi-service organization located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Established in 1964, the center is dedicated to promoting social and physical well-being, fostering growth, and encouraging self-reliance across all stages of life.

Serving over 6,000 individuals annually, the center focuses on the needs of children, low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and older adults, including isolated and homebound seniors.

Food and Nutrition Services

Addressing food insecurity is a cornerstone of the Isaacs Center's mission. It operates a comprehensive Meals on Wheels program, delivering seven meals a week to homebound seniors and other vulnerable neighbors.

Additionally, it provides congregate meals, an emergency food pantry, and a program called "Soup’s Up," ensuring access to nutritious food for those in need.

Older Adult Services

The center serves more than 2,000 older adults, including residents of the Isaacs/Holmes and Taft/Johnson public housing developments.

Services include Meals on Wheels, case management, a Senior Center, and health and wellness programs to support seniors in aging with dignity and independence.

The Senior Center offers a variety of activities such as fitness programs, arts and cultural enrichment, and social events.

Education and Workforce Development

The Isaacs Center provides intensive case management, job readiness training, and sector-focused internships and employment for out-of-school and out-of-work young adults aged 17 to 24.

Educational programs include high school equivalency classes and employment training in culinary arts, community healthcare, youth development, human services, and information technology.

The Isaacs Scholars Program offers scholarships to support higher education pursuits.

Services for School-Aged Children and Adolescents

The center offers programs benefiting over 600 children and adolescents, primarily from low-income families.

Programs include after-school tutoring, summer day camps, and initiatives focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) learning.

The goal is to prepare youth for success in high-performing New York City high schools and beyond.

Recent Developments

In June 2018, the center completed a $2.1 million renovation of its senior center kitchen and youth center facilities.

Upgrades included new kitchen equipment, improved ventilation, and renovated restroom facilities, enhancing the quality of community services.

Strategic Partnerships

In 2021, the Isaacs Center formed a strategic partnership with Goddard Riverside to address critical issues such as homelessness, public safety, poverty, and food insecurity.

This collaboration combines strengths to offer a holistic, multi-generational model of service, enhancing impact across Upper Manhattan.
