About Southeastern Grocers

Southeastern Grocers, LLC (SEG) is a prominent American supermarket company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. As one of the largest conventional supermarket chains in the United States, SEG operates a diverse portfolio of well-established regional brands, including Winn-Dixie, Harveys Supermarket, and WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor.

Founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie has a rich history of serving communities across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The brand offers a comprehensive range of products, including fresh produce, meats, dairy, bakery items, and various household goods.

In addition to its grocery offerings, Winn-Dixie operates liquor stores and in-store pharmacies, providing customers with a one-stop shopping experience.

Harveys Supermarket, established nearly a century ago by Iris and J.M. Harvey, serves communities throughout Florida and Georgia. This brand offers a wide array of grocery items, fresh produce, and in-store pharmacies, emphasizing quality and value.

WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor is SEG's latest venture, providing customers with a unique destination for fine wine, craft beer, and quality liquor. This stand-alone liquor store concept offers a wide range of premium products for entertaining and dining at home.

Company History and Recent Developments

In August 2023, SEG announced the intention to sell all Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to German supermarket chain Aldi, with plans for conversion into the ALDI brand over a multi-year period.

However, in February 2025, a consortium of private investors, led by SEG's CEO Anthony Hucker and C&S Wholesale Grocers, acquired approximately 170 stores from ALDI U.S. This included those operating under the Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket banners.

This acquisition marked a major milestone, allowing SEG to continue serving its communities under its established brand names.

Omnichannel Approach and Service Areas

SEG's commitment to customer satisfaction is evident through its omnichannel approach, offering both brick-and-mortar stores and online grocery delivery services.

Customers can enjoy the convenience of shopping in-store or opting for delivery, with services available throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Commitment to Sustainability and Community

The company emphasizes community involvement and sustainability. SEG has committed to increasing sustainability in its Own Brand product packaging by the end of 2028.

Goals include eliminating polystyrene use and ensuring all packaging is reusable, recyclable, or industrially compostable.

SEG has been recognized for workforce development and employee support, earning accolades from industry trade publications.
