South Suburban Parks and Recreation (SSPR) is a community-driven organization dedicated to fostering healthy living through the stewardship of the environment, parks, trails, and open spaces. It provides a wide array of recreational services and programs.

Established in 1959, SSPR serves over 151,000 residents across six communities and three counties in the southern metropolitan area of Denver, Colorado. The organization's mission is to promote healthy living by managing parks, trails, and open spaces.

Facilities and Amenities

SSPR manages a comprehensive range of facilities and amenities to cater to the community's diverse interests:

• Parks and Open Spaces: Over 100 parks, including 61 playgrounds and athletic fields, offering spaces for relaxation, recreation, and community events.
• Recreation Centers: Four full-service centers—Douglas H. Buck Community Recreation Center, Goodson Recreation Center, Lone Tree Recreation Center, and Sheridan Recreation Center—offer fitness facilities, classes, and programs.
• Sports Complexes: The South Suburban Sports Complex, opened in January 2021, includes three sheets of ice, a fieldhouse with two synthetic turf fields, two gymnasiums with pickleball courts, and a restaurant.
• Golf Courses: Four golf courses, such as Littleton Golf and Tennis, Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel, and South Suburban Golf Course, each with unique amenities.
• Trails: Over 125 miles of trails, including the High Line Canal Trail and Mary Carter Greenway Trail, for activities like walking, running, and cycling.

Recreational Programs

SSPR offers programs for all ages across categories such as active aging, arts, aquatics, childcare/day camps, dance, education and enrichment, fitness, golf, nature, sports, and therapeutic and adaptive recreation.
