Sheppard Pratt, founded in 1853, is the nation's largest private, nonprofit provider of mental health, substance use, developmental disability, special education, and social services.

With a comprehensive continuum of care, Sheppard Pratt offers both hospital- and community-based resources, serving nearly 80,000 individuals across more than 160 programs in Maryland and through partnerships nationwide.

Services Offered

• Inpatient Mental Health Services: Hospital-based treatment for various mental health conditions for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
• Outpatient Mental Health Services: Therapy for conditions like depression, anxiety, and substance use disorder across Maryland for all age groups.
• Special Education Schools: Operates Type I, Type II, and residential schools for students with autism, behavioral disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.
• Residential Treatment Programs: Around-the-clock care and support for individuals, with opportunities for employment, education, and community engagement.
• Community Services: Provides resources such as adult education, child care, financial coaching, and parenting skills classes.
• Psychiatric Urgent Care: Offers immediate psychiatric care to address the increased need for mental health services.

In response to the growing demand for behavioral health services, Sheppard Pratt launched Sheppard Pratt Solutions in 2021. This division provides consulting, management services, and development-based partnerships to help healthcare organizations nationwide improve hospital and community-based behavioral health services.
