About SH Hotels and Resorts
SH Hotels and Resorts, now operating as Starwood Hotels since March 2025, is a hospitality leader known for its commitment to sustainable luxury and innovative design. Founded in 2008, the company manages three distinctive brands: 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels, and Treehouse Hotels.
The rebranding revives the iconic global brand created by Barry Sternlicht nearly 30 years ago, positioning the company for continued growth in the luxury hotel industry.
1 Hotels
Launched in 2015, 1 Hotels is a nature-inspired lifestyle brand emphasizing eco-conscious design and sustainable practices. Properties feature reclaimed materials, energy-efficient systems, and biophilic design elements connecting guests with nature.
The brand's portfolio includes locations in Miami Beach, New York City, Brooklyn, West Hollywood, San Francisco, Nashville, Hanalei Bay (Hawaii), and Mayfair (London). Several projects are underway in areas such as Cabo San Lucas, Austin, Copenhagen, Seattle, and San Miguel de Allende.
Baccarat Hotels
Debuting in 2015 with Baccarat Hotel New York, this luxury brand combines sophisticated design with exceptional service. Inspired by over 250 years of Baccarat’s crystal heritage, it offers elegant accommodations and curated experiences.
Upcoming developments are planned for Rome, Florence, Riyadh, Dubai, and the Maldives to expand the brand's global footprint.
Treehouse Hotels
Introduced in 2019, Treehouse Hotels deliver a playful and nostalgic lodging experience inspired by childhood treehouses. The brand promotes whimsical, community-centric spaces encouraging social interaction and creativity.
The first property opened in London, with new locations planned for Manchester, Sunnyvale (California), Brickell (Miami), Adelaide (Australia), and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
Sustainability Initiatives
Sustainability lies at the core of Starwood Hotels' strategy. All properties aim for LEED, BREEAM, or similar certifications, reflecting deep commitments to eco-friendly design and operations.
The company has offset over 46,000 tons of CO2 and recycles approximately 3.4 million pounds of materials annually. In 2024, it reused and donated 417,265 pounds of materials, including over 52,681 pounds of food given to more than 35 charity partners.
