Saint Francis House is a nonprofit, nonsectarian daytime shelter located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Established in 1984, it is the largest daytime shelter in New England, offering a comprehensive range of services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Operating 365 days a year, Saint Francis House provides essential services such as hot, nutritious meals, showers, clothing, and access to mail and identification services. These offerings ensure guests have their basic needs met in a safe and welcoming environment.

Programs and Services

Beyond immediate relief, the organization emphasizes holistic support through various programs including:

• Medical Clinic: In partnership with Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, the on-site clinic addresses unique health concerns of guests.

Current Developments

Saint Francis House is undergoing significant renovations at its main shelter at 39 Boylston Street. These improvements aim to enhance the dining experience, case management, clothing distribution center, art therapy room, and healthcare clinic.

A new 19-story residential tower is under construction at 41 LaGrange Street, featuring 126 mixed-income rental units, including 70 units reserved for individuals exiting homelessness.
