About Saint Anselm College
Saint Anselm College, located in Goffstown, New Hampshire, is a nationally ranked Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts institution founded in 1889. It was established by Abbot Hilary Pfrängle, O.S.B., of Saint Mary's Abbey in Newark, New Jersey, at the request of Bishop Denis Mary Bradley of Manchester, New Hampshire. It stands as the third-oldest Catholic college in New England.
The college offers a comprehensive liberal arts education with 69 majors across 32 disciplines, including programs in the humanities, sciences, business, and nursing. Since 2022, Saint Anselm has expanded its academic offerings to include graduate degrees such as a Master's in Special Education (M.Ed.), a Master's of Public Policy (M.P.P.), and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Criminal Justice.
Additionally, an online Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) in Leadership and Innovation is set to begin in the fall of 2025.
Campus and Facilities
The campus spans over 450 acres and features 60 buildings. Among these is the Geisel Library, opened in 1960, housing a collection of 100,000 volumes.
The Dana Center for the Humanities serves as the premier performing arts venue, hosting theater productions, concerts, and other cultural events. The Alva de Mars Megan Chapel Art Center, established in 1967, provides a setting for special exhibitions and houses a permanent collection of artworks.
Community Engagement and Support
Saint Anselm College is committed to community engagement through the Meelia Center for Community Engagement, which collaborates with over 50 nonprofit agencies. Students can participate in various volunteer opportunities, including community service and service-learning projects.
The Father Jonathan, O.S.B. Center for Intercultural Learning and Inclusion offers support services and programs designed to enhance diversity and inclusion on campus.
Athletics
The college competes at the NCAA Division II level in 23 men's and women's varsity sports. The Saint Anselm Hawks have achieved notable success, including winning the NCAA Division II National Championship in women's field hockey in 2024.
