About Petro Star Inc.
Petro Star Inc. is the only Alaska-owned refining and fuel marketing operation in the state. Established in 1984, the company has built a reputation for delivering quality fuel and superior services to a diverse clientele.
This includes residential, military, marine, aviation, and industrial customers. With over 30 years of experience, Petro Star has become a trusted provider of essential fuel products across Alaska.
Refining Operations
The company operates two refineries: the North Pole Refinery and the Valdez Refinery.
The North Pole Refinery, established in 1985, processes 22,000 barrels of Alaska North Slope crude oil per day. It produces heating fuel, turbine fuel, diesel, jet fuels, and asphalt base oil.
The Valdez Refinery, completed in 1993, has a capacity of 60,000 barrels per day and produces ultra-low sulfur diesel, military and commercial-grade jet fuel, heating oil, and marine diesel.
Divisions and Services
In addition to refining, Petro Star operates several divisions to meet the unique challenges of producing and distributing fuel throughout Alaska.
One key division is Petro Star Lubricants, which imports lubricating oils in bulk, repackages them, and distributes finished products to industrial customers across Southcentral, Western, Northern, and Interior Alaska.
The company also offers technical services such as lube oil seminars and individual consultations to ensure customers select the right products for their specific equipment and operating conditions.
Quality Commitment
Petro Star is committed to quality in its heating fuel products, which have one of the lowest pour points in Alaska. This allows customers to use fuel even in temperatures below -60ºF (-51ºC).
The company tests its fuels in a state-of-the-art laboratory for cloud and pour points, gravity, and flash levels to guarantee high-quality products.
Company Ownership and Corporate Responsibility
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC), Petro Star is part of the largest Alaska-owned and operated company, employing over 10,000 people worldwide.
The company focuses on being a good corporate citizen by contributing to the economic and social well-being of local communities.
