About The Passalacqua Vineyard
Industry
Other
Passalacqua Winery is a family-owned establishment located in the heart of Dry Creek Valley, California. It is renowned for producing small-lot, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region.
The winery's history dates back to 1865 when Francesco Passalacqua emigrated from Genoa and began planting grapes in Healdsburg. Over generations, significant milestones include the opening of Sonoma Wine Cellars by Francesco's daughter, Edith, in 1933, making her one of the first women to operate a winery in California post-prohibition.
Leadership and Wine Portfolio
Today, Passalacqua Winery continues its legacy under owner Jason Passalacqua and head winemaker Jessica Boone. The winery specializes in vineyard-designate wines, focusing on single-vineyard expressions that highlight distinct site characteristics.
Their portfolio includes a diverse range of red and white wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and Fiano.
Vineyard and Production
A cornerstone of their production is the TR Passalacqua Ranch, a 100-acre vineyard divided into 23 blocks. Each block contributes unique flavor profiles to the wines.
Meticulous farming practices include bunch thinning and limited irrigation to ensure the highest quality fruit. The winery offers a Cabernet Ranch Visit, providing guests an immersive experience into the vineyard's history and terroir.
Visitor Experience
Guests at Passalacqua Winery can enjoy intimate wine presentations on the beautiful deck under redwood trees. Appointments are available at 10:45 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.
The winery is open by appointment only, ensuring a personalized experience for each guest.
International Expansion
The Passalacqua family has expanded their winemaking internationally. Valentina Passalacqua established a winery in Puglia, Italy, producing natural wines under the brands Calcarius and '9 Is Enough.'
These wines have gained recognition for quality and are distributed in the U.S. market through Vine Street Imports.
