About Oklahoma City Comets

The Oklahoma City Comets are a professional Minor League Baseball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, they compete in the Pacific Coast League (PCL), representing the highest level of Minor League Baseball.

The team plays its home games at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, a state-of-the-art facility located in the city's vibrant Bricktown district.

History and Rebranding

Established in 1962 as the Oklahoma City 89ers, the franchise has undergone several name changes over the decades.

From 1998 to 2008, they were known as the Oklahoma RedHawks, and from 2009 to 2014 as the Oklahoma City RedHawks. In 2015, the team became the Oklahoma City Dodgers, reflecting their affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 2024 season saw a temporary rebranding to the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, paving the way for the current identity as the Oklahoma City Comets, unveiled in October 2024.

Team Identity

The Comets' new name pays homage to Oklahoma baseball legend Mickey Mantle, whose nickname was "The Commerce Comet." This rebranding reflects both the team's rich history and connection to the future of Oklahoma City.

The team's colors—light blue and red—honor their longstanding affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the logo features a baseball streaking through the sky like a comet, symbolizing the team's dynamic presence.

Management and Ownership

Under the ownership of Diamond Baseball Holdings, the Comets continue to serve as a platform for players one step away from Major League Baseball.

The team's management is led by President and General Manager Michael Byrnes, with Scott Hennessey serving as team manager. Hennessey brings a wealth of experience, having previously managed the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

2025 Season and Fan Experience

Fans can look forward to an exciting 2025 season, with the Comets' home opener scheduled for April 1 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
