Newport Hospital, located at 20 Powel Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island, is a private, nonprofit healthcare facility that has been serving the community since its founding in 1873.

Established by local residents to provide accessible medical care to the people of Aquidneck Island, the hospital has evolved from a modest 12-bed cottage into a state-of-the-art institution offering a comprehensive range of services.

The recently renovated department features 29 beds, including a dedicated 4-bed behavioral health pod, enhancing patient comfort and reducing wait times.

Expanding Behavioral Health Services

This unit will serve patients aged 12 to 18 with serious mental health disorders, providing short-term stabilization, assessment, and treatment for conditions such as suicidal ideation and aggressive behaviors.
