New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), established in 1955, is a private research university dedicated to providing career-oriented education and fostering innovation across various disciplines.

Academic Programs and Colleges
NYIT comprises six colleges and schools, each offering specialized programs:
- College of Arts & Sciences: Provides foundational courses and degrees in fields such as biology, biotechnology, chemistry, behavioral sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.
- College of Engineering & Computing Sciences: Offers ABET-accredited degrees in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, energy management, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering. The college also provides a Ph.D. in computer science and an online program in data science.
- School of Architecture & Design: Focuses on programs in architecture, interior design, and urban design, emphasizing innovation and sustainability.
- School of Health Professions: Offers degrees in health sciences, including physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, and nursing.
- School of Management: Provides programs in business administration, including MBA and specialized master's degrees.
- College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM): Trains future physicians with campuses in Long Island, New York, and Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Research and Innovation
NYIT is committed to advancing research and innovation through various centers and initiatives.
The Biomedical Research, Innovation, and Imaging Center (BRIIC), opened in May 2025, is a $31 million facility on the Long Island campus featuring collaborative laboratories and advanced imaging equipment. It supports interdisciplinary biomedical research.
The Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC), located in Old Westbury, New York, serves as a hub for students, faculty, and industry partners to collaborate on real-world projects, fostering innovation and business incubation.
NYIT also explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence across industries such as healthcare, finance, engineering, energy, and architecture. The university utilizes machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics to drive innovation.

NYIT extends its reach beyond the United States with campuses in Vancouver, Canada, and Jonesboro, Arkansas.
