About The Mohala Eyewear
Industry
Other
Mohala Eyewear is an inclusive eyewear brand founded by Ashley Mariko Meilan Johnson in Honolulu, Hawaii. The name "Mohala" translates to "to bloom, to blossom, to shine, and to be free" in Hawaiian, reflecting the brand's mission to empower women through well-fitting, stylish eyewear.
Recognizing that traditional eyewear often caters to a limited range of face shapes, Mohala Eyewear offers a diverse selection of frames designed to accommodate various nose bridges, face widths, and head sizes.
Each pair features hypoallergenic acetate frames, flexible spring hinges, and polarized lenses that provide 100% UV protection. The brand's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its four unique nose bridge fits—extra low, low, medium, and tall—ensuring a secure and comfortable fit for all women.
Mohala Eyewear is also dedicated to social responsibility. For every pair of sunglasses sold, the company donates one week of school to the Room to Read Girls' Education Program, aiming to empower young girls through education.
As of May 2020, Mohala Eyewear had donated over 170 years of school to this cause.
Shopping Experience
To enhance the shopping process, Mohala Eyewear introduced a "Try Before You Buy" program in partnership with the app BlackCart.
This initiative allows customers to select three frames online for a $10 fee, try them at home for five days, and then decide which pair to purchase, making the process risk-free and convenient.
Product Line
The brand's product line includes a variety of styles, such as the Lahela Square Glasses, designed to flatter wide face shapes and tall to low nose bridges.
These frames are crafted from premium acetate with flexible spring hinges, ensuring durability and comfort.
