About Mesquite ISD
Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) is a public school district located on the east side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in North Texas. It spans approximately 60 square miles along the I-635 corridor from I-20 to I-30. The district includes the communities of Mesquite, Garland, and Balch Springs, as well as areas of the city of Dallas.
Serving a diverse student population of over 38,000 learners, MISD operates 52 campuses organized into five feeder patterns. This structure fosters a close-knit community atmosphere, ensuring personalized attention and support for each student.
The district provides a comprehensive educational experience featuring academic programs, extracurricular activities, and support services. MISD is committed to inclusivity, promoting a welcoming environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
In response to challenges like teacher shortages, MISD has considered innovative solutions such as a four-day school week to enhance teacher planning time and address staffing needs.
