Medinah Country Club, established in 1924 by the Medinah Shriners, is a prestigious private club located in Medinah, Illinois, approximately 25 miles west of Chicago. Spanning 640 acres, the club features three world-class 18-hole golf courses, a 120,000-square-foot clubhouse, and various amenities catering to members and guests.
Golf Courses
The club's three courses are renowned for their design and history.
- Course #1: Designed by Tom Doak, this 6,895-yard, par-71 course offers generous fairways and challenging greens.
- Course #2: Designed by Tom Bendelow, this 6,412-yard, par-72 course underwent a 2016 restoration by Rees Jones, emphasizing classic Golden Age architecture.
- Course #3: The most famous, measuring 7,657 yards with a par of 72, has hosted major tournaments including the U.S. Open (1949, 1975, 1990), PGA Championship (1999, 2006), and the 2012 Ryder Cup.
Clubhouse and Amenities
The iconic clubhouse, designed by Richard G. Schmid, blends Byzantine, Oriental, and Louis XIV architectural styles. It houses six dining areas, including the upscale Fireside Restaurant and the casual Oasis Restaurant.
Additional amenities include a pro shop, a 5,000-square-foot Golf Learning Center, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a skeet and trap shooting area.
Membership
Membership at Medinah is by invitation only, with categories ranging from Regular to Social memberships.
The initiation fee is approximately $85,000, with monthly dues varying based on membership type.
