Library Foundation of Los Angeles

The Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL). Established in 1992, LFLA plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the library continues to offer free and accessible programs, resources, and services to the diverse communities of Los Angeles.

LFLA's mission includes fundraising, advocacy, and developing innovative programs that benefit Angelenos of all ages. Through these efforts, the foundation has raised over $178 million, allocated to initiatives like literacy programs, academic achievement support for K-12 students, and promoting lifelong learning.

Key Programs

One notable program is "ALOUD", a multidisciplinary cultural series featuring conversations, readings, and performances with authors, artists, and public intellectuals.

Events are held at the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles, neighborhood libraries citywide, and other community spaces, fostering vibrant cultural dialogue within the city.

The Library Store

LFLA operates "The Library Store," located at 630 W. Fifth St., Los Angeles, CA 90071. The store offers a variety of books, merchandise, and unique items.

Proceeds from the store support the library's initiatives. Store hours are:

• Monday and Tuesday: 12–5 pm
• Wednesday and Thursday: 11 am–6 pm
• Friday: 11 am–5 pm
• Saturday: 11 am–1 pm and 1:30–5 pm
• Sunday: 1–5 pm
