About Levain Bakery
Levain Bakery, founded in 1995 by best friends Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, began as a small bread shop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The duo, both avid triathletes, created a six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie as a substantial post-training snack.
This hearty cookie quickly became a customer favorite, propelling Levain Bakery into the spotlight.
Over the years, Levain Bakery has expanded its offerings beyond signature cookies to include muffins, brioche, scones, sticky buns, and breads, all baked fresh daily. The bakery's commitment to quality and community has led to a loyal customer base and numerous accolades.
In 2025, Levain Bakery celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of friendship, community, and iconic cookies. To commemorate this milestone, the bakery introduced special collaborations, including a merchandise line with vintage-inspired apparel and a cookbook detailing the Levain story.
