About Legacy Health

Legacy Health is a comprehensive, nonprofit healthcare system headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Established in 1989, it has grown to become the largest locally owned health system in the region. It employs approximately 14,000 staff members.

The system comprises six primary-care hospitals, a children’s hospital, and numerous outpatient clinics and facilities. Its hospitals include:

  • Legacy Emanuel Medical Center
  • Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center
  • Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center
  • Legacy Silverton Medical Center
  • Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center
  • Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center

Legacy Health also operates specialized institutes such as the Legacy Cancer Institute, Legacy Devers Eye Institute, Legacy Weight and Diabetes Institute, and the Legacy Oregon Burn Center.

In August 2023, Legacy Health announced plans to merge with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to improve primary and community-based services. The merger is pending regulatory approval and expected to conclude in 2024.
