Land O'Lakes, Inc. is a century-old, farmer- and retailer-owned cooperative headquartered in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Established in 1921, the company has grown into one of America's premier agribusiness and food organizations.

It operates in all 50 states and more than 60 countries. The cooperative comprises four distinct business units that drive its diverse operations.

Business Units

• Dairy Foods: Known for high-quality dairy products including butter, cheese, and refrigerated desserts. The company pioneered butter production from fresh, sweet cream, setting a standard in the U.S.
• Animal Nutrition: Through Purina Animal Nutrition, it offers research-backed feed and nutritional programs for various animals, serving producers, animal owners, and their families.
• Crop Inputs and Insights: Under the WinField United brand, this unit provides data-driven products, services, and agronomic insights to optimize crop production. WinField United's retailer network reaches 50% of harvested acres in the U.S.
• Truterra: This sustainability brand focuses on farming practices that support environmental stewardship and profitability. By May 2023, it had paid farmers over $9 million to remove 462,000 metric tons of carbon.

Membership

The cooperative is member-owned, with over 1,000 farmer-owners and more than 800 retail owners. This ownership structure aligns operations closely with member needs, fostering a strong community and shared purpose.
