History

The building was originally constructed in 1894 as the City Brewery, later Pearl Brewery. It was designed by Chicago architect August Maritzen in Second Empire style and was the tallest in San Antonio at that time.

The brewery closed in 2001. Silver Ventures, Inc. acquired the property in 2002. After extensive renovations preserving much of its architectural integrity, the hotel opened on November 12, 2015.

Hotel Emma has been honored with prestigious distinctions, including being named the only Michelin Two Key hotel in San Antonio and the sole AAA Five Diamond property in Texas.
