About First Watch
First Watch is an American restaurant chain specializing in breakfast, brunch, and lunch, renowned for its commitment to fresh, made-to-order meals. Established in 1983 in Pacific Grove, California, by founders Ken Pendery and John Sullivan, the company has grown to over 535 locations across 29 states, with its headquarters now in Bradenton, Florida.
The name "First Watch" is inspired by the nautical term for the first work shift aboard a ship, reflecting the restaurant's dedication to morning and midday dining. Operating exclusively from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, First Watch focuses on providing a unique farm-to-table experience with a menu that evolves seasonally to incorporate fresh, local ingredients.
The menu features a variety of healthy and indulgent options, including signature items like the Quinoa Power Bowl®, Farmstand Breakfast Tacos, Avocado Toast, and the renowned Million Dollar Bacon. Beverage offerings include freshly juiced drinks such as the Morning Meditation and Vodka Kale Tonic.
In 2022, First Watch received the MenuMasters honor from Nation's Restaurant News for its seasonal Braised Short Rib Omelet. It was also recognized with ADP's Culture at Work award and named a Top 100 Most Loved Workplace® by Newsweek and the Best Practice Institute.
In 2021, First Watch was honored with FSR Magazine's Best Menu award and recognized as the fastest-growing full-service restaurant chain based on unit growth. The company is majority-owned by Advent International, one of the world's largest private-equity firms.
