• Forensic Services: The FBI Laboratory, located at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, provides forensic analysis support services to the FBI and to state and local law enforcement agencies free of charge.

Locations

The FBI operates 56 field offices in major cities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, with many further subdivided into smaller resident agencies.

Additionally, the FBI maintains over 50 legal attachés at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide.

Recently, the FBI ordered the transfer of 1,500 staff out of its Washington headquarters. Of these, 1,000 staff members were dispersed to field offices nationwide, while 500 were transferred to Huntsville, Alabama.
