Fayetteville Woodpeckers

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are a Minor League Baseball team based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Established in 2019, they serve as the Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The team plays its home games at Segra Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility located in downtown Fayetteville.

Segra Stadium

Segra Stadium, which opened in 2019, is a premier entertainment venue in eastern North Carolina. The stadium has a seating capacity of 4,600 and is surrounded by notable landmarks.

These include the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, Fayetteville station, and the Prince Charles Hotel. Beyond hosting baseball games, Segra Stadium is a hub for community events such as Pecktoberfest, Fayetteville Holiday Lights, and the Eastern NC Walk to End Alzheimer's.

League and Team Information

The Woodpeckers compete in the Carolina League against other Single-A teams affiliated with Major League Baseball organizations. Their roster features both emerging talents and seasoned players, all striving to advance within the Astros' farm system.

The team's colors—black, red, gray, and white—pay homage to the red-cockaded woodpecker, an endangered species once abundant in the region.

Coaching Staff

In 2025, the Woodpeckers introduced a new coaching staff to lead the team. Carlos Lugo, with the Astros organization since 2014, took over as manager.

Other staff members include pitching coach James Wiseman, hitting coach Kyle Brennan, development coach Alfredo Granier, strength coach Jordan Small, and head athletic trainer Daniel Gonzalez.

Community Engagement

The Woodpeckers are committed to supporting Fayetteville through various initiatives.
