About Families in Transition

Families in Transition (FIT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and breaking the cycle of homelessness in New Hampshire. Established in 1991, FIT offers a comprehensive range of services designed to empower individuals and families facing homelessness.

Housing Programs

Emergency Shelters

  • Adult Shelter: Serving 138 individuals nightly, providing a safe environment for adults experiencing homelessness.
  • Family Shelter: Accommodating 11 families each night, offering secure shelter for families with children facing homelessness.

Food Services

Proper nutrition is vital for those experiencing homelessness. FIT runs the largest food pantry in Manchester, NH, serving about 1,000 households monthly.

The pantry offers essential items including fresh produce, dairy, and non-perishable goods to ensure access to nutritious food.

Substance Use Treatment

The Willows Treatment Center, part of FIT, specializes in evidence-based practices for substance use disorders, mental health, and trauma.

Services include outpatient and intensive outpatient programs focusing on wellness and recovery. FIT also provides recovery housing for women reuniting with their children, supporting sobriety and family reunification.

Outfitters Thrift Store
