About Evelyn Rubenstein JCC
The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center (ERJCC) of Houston is a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering Jewish identity, promoting Jewish values, and enriching both the Jewish and broader communities.
Established in 1936, the ERJCC has long served as a central hub for social, cultural, and recreational activities, offering a welcoming environment for individuals and families of all backgrounds.
Expansion and Facilities
In January 2023, the ERJCC completed a significant $50 million expansion and renovation project, reaffirming its commitment to the southwest Houston area.
The upgraded facility now features a 126,000-square-foot Samuels Family Community Pavilion, which includes an aquatics complex with recreational pools and slides, lap pools, a fitness center, an outdoor café, and family locker rooms equipped with saunas and whirlpools.
These enhancements aim to provide a comprehensive and modern space for community engagement and wellness.
Programs and Services
The ERJCC offers a diverse array of programs and services catering to various age groups and interests.
For children and teens, the center provides early childhood education, summer camps, and the JCC Maccabi Games®, an Olympic-style sporting event that fosters Jewish identity and leadership among youth.
Adults can participate in health and wellness programs, cultural events, and lifelong learning opportunities.
The center also hosts the Karol Musher STARS Early Childhood Intervention Program, which supports preschoolers with disabilities and developmental delays through individualized instruction and family support.
Culinary Programs
Culinary enthusiasts can engage in classes and events at the Cramer-Jacobs Family Culinary Studio, which offers a variety of programs integrating Jewish culture and food traditions.
These classes are designed for all skill levels and feature renowned guest chefs and unique culinary experiences.
Commitment to Inclusivity
The ERJCC is committed to inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
