About East Valley Institute of Technology

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public school district located in Mesa, Arizona, dedicated to providing career and technical education to high school students and adults in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Established in 1991, EVIT offers a diverse range of programs designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in various industries.

Educational Programs and Services

EVIT serves students from 10th to 12th grade across 11 East Valley school districts, offering over 40 career and technical education programs. These programs are available at EVIT's central campuses and through satellite programs at participating high schools.

High school students can attend tuition-free for a half-day, while adults have the option to enroll in full-time programs with financial aid available for those who qualify.

Main Campus

The Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) Campus, located at 1601 W. Main Street in Mesa, spans 65 acres and features more than 15 buildings. This campus houses the administrative and district offices, as well as adult and continuing education programs.

Power Campus

The Power Campus, situated at 6625 S. Power Road in Mesa, opened in 2011 to accommodate the growing population in the southeast Valley. This 10-acre campus focuses on health, aviation, and cosmetology programs for high school students.

In October 2023, EVIT unveiled the results of a $44 million renovation project at the Power Campus, which included a new hangar for the aviation program and expanded facilities for veterinary assistant and future engineers programs.

Apache Junction Branch Campus

The Apache Junction Branch Campus, located at 2525 S. Ironwood Drive in Apache Junction, offers programs such as Culinary Arts Fundamentals, Early Childhood Fundamentals, Construction Fundamentals, and Welding Fundamentals to Apache Junction High School students.

Adult Career Training

EVIT provides several Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE)-accredited adult career training programs at the Main Campus. These programs include:

  • Aesthetics
  • Collision Repair
  • Cosmetology
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)
  • Massage Therapy
  • Nursing Assistant
  • Plumbing
  • Practical Nursing
  • Sterile Processing Technician
  • Surgical Technologist
  • Welding

Each program offers hands-on instruction with industry-approved equipment and leads to industry certifications.

Community Initiatives

In September 2023, EVIT began constructing a residence hall specifically for foster youth at its Main Campus. This initiative aims to provide a supportive environment and improve educational outcomes for foster youth.

The effort addresses the notably low graduation rates among students in foster care in Arizona.
