Recent Developments
In collaboration with UNC Health, Duke Health is planning to build North Carolina's first standalone children's hospital, "NC Children's," in the Research Triangle region. This 500-bed pediatric facility will include a children's outpatient care center, a behavioral health center, and research and education facilities connected to the health systems' medical schools.
Groundbreaking is expected by 2027, with completion in about six years, at a projected cost exceeding $2 billion.
Additionally, Duke Health and Novant Health have announced a partnership to develop new medical office campuses across North Carolina. The first campuses are expected to begin construction later this year, aiming to address the growing population and ensure manageable wait times for patients.
