The City of Clarksville, located in Montgomery County, Tennessee, is the fifth-largest city in the state, with a population of 166,722 as of the 2020 census. Established in 1784 and incorporated in 1808, Clarksville serves as the county seat and is the principal city of the Clarksville metropolitan area.
This metropolitan area includes Montgomery and Stewart counties in Tennessee and Christian and Trigg counties in Kentucky.
