About Chuy's Tex Mex

Chuy's Tex-Mex is a vibrant and eclectic restaurant chain that has been serving authentic Tex-Mex cuisine since its inception in 1982. Founded by Mike Young and John Zapp in Austin, Texas, Chuy's has expanded from a single location to over 100 restaurants across 15 states.

The menu is a fusion of flavors from South Texas, New Mexico, and Mexican border towns, featuring family recipes made from scratch daily. Signature dishes include the "Big As Yo' Face" burritos, Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas, and various fajitas.

Chuy's is especially known for its handmade tortillas, fresh guacamole, and ten handcrafted signature sauces that add a unique flair to each meal.

In July 2024, Chuy's was acquired by Darden Restaurants, the parent company of brands like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. This marked Darden's first venture into Mexican cuisine. Following the acquisition, plans were announced to relocate Chuy's headquarters to Orlando, Florida, with the move expected in early 2025.
