About Children's Wisconsin
Children's Wisconsin is a comprehensive pediatric healthcare system dedicated to the well-being of children and adolescents. It focuses on providing specialized medical care and offers a wide range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of young patients.
At the heart of Children's Wisconsin is its 298-bed hospital located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This facility is recognized as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, one of only two in the state, ensuring that critically injured children receive the highest standard of care.
The hospital is equipped with specialized units, including a regional pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), both designed to cater to the complex needs of infants and children. Additionally, the hospital features a rooftop helipad to facilitate rapid transport for emergency cases.
Comprehensive Services
Beyond acute care, Children's Wisconsin offers a comprehensive array of services including primary care, specialty clinics, urgent care, and emergency services. The organization is committed to addressing the holistic needs of children.
Services range from routine check-ups to specialized treatments for complex conditions. Their mental and behavioral health services include the Craig Yabuki Mental Health Center, which supports children facing emotional and psychological challenges.
Center for Child Development
In April 2024, Children's Wisconsin expanded its services by opening the Center for Child Development in Wauwatosa. This center focuses on integrated health services for children with developmental diagnoses.
These diagnoses include delays in speech, language, motor skills, cognitive abilities, learning disorders, attention and behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and trauma-related psychological and developmental concerns.
The facility provides coordinated care in a single location, offering developmental and behavioral pediatrics, psychology, speech, occupational and physical therapy, and early childhood mental health services.
