About Chef Ann Foundation
The Chef Ann Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming school food systems across the United States. Founded in 2009 by Chef Ann Cooper, an internationally recognized advocate for healthy school meals, the foundation's mission is to ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding, and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, and delicious meals prepared from scratch.
Operating nationwide, the Chef Ann Foundation has made a significant impact on school nutrition. They have reached over 4.4 million children and empowered more than 16,000 schools to serve healthier meals.
Their initiatives include granting over 6,000 salad bars to schools, impacting nearly 100,000 students through lunchroom education, and filling over 2,300 seats in online courses designed to train school food professionals.
Key Programs
One of the foundation's key programs is the Healthy School Food Pathway Fellowship. This year-long program supports school food professionals working under the National School Lunch Program.
The fellowship offers virtual learning sessions, in-person learning trips, and project-based learning to help participants advance scratch cooking in their districts. It covers all expenses related to travel, including flights, lodging, and meals.
