Center for Developmentally Disabled

The Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) is a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1972. It is dedicated to supporting adults with developmental disabilities in the greater Kansas City, Missouri area.

Their mission is to assist individuals in achieving their fullest potential by providing a range of services designed to promote independence, community integration, and personal growth.

Services Offered

• Residential Care: CDD operates group homes that offer 24-hour supervised care, training, and support for individuals with varying health and intellectual needs. These homes provide room and board, Wi-Fi, and cable television, ensuring a comfortable living environment.
• Supported Living Services: For those living in agency-owned and operated apartments, CDD offers individualized supports to promote independence. Services include assistance with daily living activities, health and safety monitoring, transportation, food services, money management, and recreational activities.
• Day Habilitation Services: CDD provides programs that support participants in community living skills such as shopping, recreation, and socialization. These services are tailored to each individual's definition of a meaningful day, promoting active community involvement.
• PALS University: This program offers participants opportunities to engage in community living skills, including shopping, recreation, and socialization, fostering independence and community integration.
• Rainbow Center: Collaborating with various school districts, the Rainbow Center provides day school programs for students with diverse diagnoses, including Autism and other developmental disabilities, supporting their educational and social development.
• Doorways: This initiative focuses on community integration, supported living, and group living, offering services that promote independence and community participation for individuals with developmental disabilities.

In 2016, CDD consolidated with Special Neighbors, Inc., expanding its services and facilities to better meet the needs of the community.

The organization is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), ensuring adherence to nationally recognized quality standards for its housing and community placement options.
