About Capital Region BOCES
Capital Region BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) is a collaborative educational service organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience for students within 24 component school districts across Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie, and Southern Saratoga counties in New York State.
The organization extends its services to more than 150 school districts beyond the Capital Region area, reflecting its commitment to supporting a broad educational community.
Mission and Programs
With a mission to provide educational leadership, services, and support to meet the needs of students and school districts, Capital Region BOCES offers an extensive array of over 300 programs and services.
These programs include career and technical education (CTE), adult education, special education, and various support services designed to address the diverse needs of learners.
Career and Technical Education Center
A cornerstone of Capital Region BOCES is its Career and Technical Education Center, which provides high school and adult learners with more than 30 programs.
These include courses for honor students, college-credit bearing courses, and programs for students of all abilities. The center also offers adult education programs such as nurse assistant training, welding, and electrical courses.
Facilities
The state-of-the-art Career & Technical Education Center – Albany Campus, opened in September 2022, spans 167,000 square feet and houses 25 high school programs along with several adult education programs.
This facility is equipped with the latest technology and equipment, providing students with hands-on experience in real-world settings.
Work-Based Learning
Capital Region BOCES emphasizes work-based learning by partnering with local businesses to offer various practical experiences for students, including:
