Brown University Health, formerly known as Lifespan, is a comprehensive healthcare system based in Providence, Rhode Island. Established in October 2024, the organization encompasses a wide array of medical services, including primary care, specialty care, urgent care, and behavioral health. These services are all integrated through a unified electronic health record system called MyChart.
The system operates over 1,620 patient care offices and locations, including several hospitals and medical centers. Notable facilities include Rhode Island Hospital, the state's only Level I Trauma Center; The Miriam Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University; and Newport Hospital, among others.
Commitment to Education and Research
In addition to its clinical services, Brown University Health is committed to education and research. The Brown University School of Public Health, established in 2013, offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and certificate programs. It is recognized for its significant NIH funding.
