BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM) is a dynamic organization dedicated to empowering youth across the region. Established in 1926, BGCSM has evolved from a traditional after-school program into a comprehensive hub offering a wide array of programs and services.

Mission and Vision

BGCSM's mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can learn, grow, and develop into responsible, productive, and caring individuals. The organization focuses on delivering programs that foster academic success, good character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles.

By offering these opportunities, BGCSM aims to prepare young people for future challenges and help them become change agents within their communities.

Programs and Services

BGCSM offers a diverse range of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of its members. These programs provide real-life experiences and equip youth with tools to be college and career-ready, as well as to become change agents in their lives, clubs, and communities.

• The Arts: Encouraging creativity and self-expression through various artistic disciplines.
• Character & Leadership: Developing leadership skills and promoting good character among youth.
• Health & Wellness: Promoting physical and mental well-being through health-focused initiatives.
• Workforce and Entrepreneurship: Equipping youth with skills for the workforce and fostering entrepreneurial thinking.
• Edutainment: Combining education and entertainment to engage and educate youth.
• Sports & Fitness: Encouraging physical activity and teamwork through sports programs.

BGCSM operates multiple locations across Southeastern Michigan, each offering tailored programs to meet the needs of the local community.

• Van Buren Township: Youth sports programs at 46425 Tyler Rd, Van Buren Twp, MI 48111.
• Hiram E. Jackson Club (Ponyride East): 24 Ferris Street, Highland Park, MI 48203.
• Lloyd H. Diehl Club (Ponyride South): 4242 Collingwood St., Detroit, MI 48204.
• Eastpointe Club (Ponyride Macomb): 15320 E. 9 Mile, Eastpointe, MI 48021.
• Additional locations in Highland Park, MI, and multiple sites in Detroit, MI.

Community Impact

BGCSM is committed to making a significant impact in the communities it serves. In 2024, the organization served 15,500 youth across its five locations.

Looking ahead, BGCSM plans to open its sixth location at the recently restored Michigan Central train station in Corktown, Detroit, in 2025. The goal is to expand to 14 clubs by 2028.

Through its comprehensive programs and dedicated staff, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan continues to empower youth, helping them unlock their full potential and prepare for a successful future.
