Augusta Country Club, Incorporated, established in 1899, is a private golf and country club located in Augusta, Georgia. It is the first established golf club in Augusta, with its beginnings documented in 1899. The club was originally known as the Bon Air Golf Club, reflecting its close connections with the Bon Air Hotel.
In 1900, the name was changed to The Country Club of Augusta, and in 1921, it became The Augusta Country Club. In 1942, the legal name was changed to The Augusta Country Club, Incorporated.
Founders and Historical Significance
The club's founders—Dr. William Henry Harison, Jr., Morley Harison, Henry H. Cumming, and Louis P. Berckmans—introduced golf to the Augusta area. They significantly contributed to the city's reputation as a prominent golf center in America.
