Arkansas Foodbank

The Arkansas Foodbank, established in 1984, is the state's largest hunger relief organization. It is dedicated to combating food insecurity across central and southern Arkansas.

Operating from its headquarters in Little Rock, the Foodbank serves a 33-county area. It partners with over 400 community agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and schools, to distribute nutritious food to those in need.

Key Programs

The Foodbank operates several essential programs to support various populations:

• Food For Families: Connects partner agencies with food and funds to strengthen local feeding programs, ensuring families have access to healthy and nutritious food.
• Food For Kids: Aimed at children facing hunger, this initiative provides food through school pantries, backpack programs, and summer feeding programs to help children grow and thrive.
• Food For Seniors: Improves access to food for older Arkansans through monthly food boxes, home deliveries, SNAP outreach, and additional support to partner agencies, considering dietary restrictions and transportation needs.

The Foodbank also responds to emergency situations by providing rapid food distribution through its mobile pantry program, ensuring communities receive timely support during crises.

Anniversary and Events

In 2024, the Arkansas Foodbank celebrated its 40th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to addressing hunger and food insecurity in the state.

In 2025, the Foodbank will host the 23rd Annual Empty Bowls Gala on April 26 at The Venue at Westwind in North Little Rock. This event aims to raise funds and awareness to fight hunger in Arkansas.
