About Archdiocese of Milwaukee

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory of the Catholic Church, serving southeast Wisconsin in the United States. Established in 1843 and elevated to an archdiocese in 1875, it encompasses the City of Milwaukee and the counties of Dodge, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha.

As of 2017, the archdiocese served approximately 591,890 Catholics across 198 parishes, making it the most heavily Catholic region in Wisconsin. It also oversees 322 diocesan priests, 370 religious priests, and 147 permanent deacons.

The archdiocese includes 94 elementary schools, 13 high schools, and five colleges and universities, as well as 12 Catholic hospitals and nine Catholic cemeteries.

Leadership

In January 2025, Archbishop Jeffrey S. Grob was installed as the 12th Archbishop of Milwaukee. Prior to this appointment, he served as an auxiliary bishop in Chicago.

Archbishop Grob's leadership marks a new chapter for the archdiocese, which continues to address challenges such as declining membership and the need for parish mergers.

Locations

The archdiocese's headquarters are located at 3501 S. Lake Dr., St. Francis, WI 53235.
