About Arc Broward

Arc Broward is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the community by providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other life challenges to realize their full potential. Established in 1956, Arc Broward has been a cornerstone in Broward County, Florida.

It offers a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to empower children, adults, and seniors. These programs aim to help individuals thrive across different stages of life.

Mission and Vision

Arc Broward's mission focuses on transforming the community by creating opportunities for people facing disabilities and life challenges to reach their full potential.

This mission is carried out through a continuum of 21 critical programs and services that serve diverse community needs.

Core Programs and Services

The programs at Arc Broward are structured around three key impact pillars:

  • Develop: Ensures children and teens with disabilities have access to programs that support their development from infancy to adulthood. This includes after-school programs, parent training, preschool services, respite care, summer camps, and therapy services.
  • Empower: Creates access to education, training, and tools that help teens and adults with disabilities build careers and achieve self-sufficiency. Key programs include Arc Works, the School of Hire Education, School to Work Services, and Summer Career Camp.
  • Thrive: Provides meaningful activities and residential supports promoting inclusion, independence, and personal development for adults and seniors. It includes behavioral supports, community living, life skills training, and a seniors day program.

Social Enterprises

Arc Broward operates two social enterprises that provide job training, employment opportunities, and generate funding for its programs:

  • Arc Culinary: Offers catering services at the Andrew P. Barowsky Culinary Arts Center, home to the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Innovation Kitchen. Revenue supports the culinary institute’s job placement program helping students with disabilities.
  • Arc Educates: Provides quality, affordable professional development training and educational programs for human services providers. Established in 2003, it offers certification courses like DSPATHS, Entry Level Culinary Arts Certificate, Material Handler, and Animal Care.

Arc Broward operates at multiple locations across Broward County, Florida, providing 21 programs throughout the area.

Its main campus and administrative office is at 10250 NW 53rd Street, Sunrise, Florida. Other key locations include Malibu House in Coral Springs, Santa Fe House in Plantation, and Eden House in Coral Springs.
