About AMR
AMR Corporation was an airline holding company based in Fort Worth, Texas. It served as the parent company of American Airlines, American Eagle Airlines, AmericanConnection, and Executive Airlines.
Established in 1982, AMR Corporation played a pivotal role in the aviation industry by overseeing a vast network of domestic and international flights. Its subsidiaries, notably American Airlines, offered extensive air travel services across North America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, and Asia.
In November 2011, AMR Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to restructure its operations and address financial challenges. The company emerged from bankruptcy on December 9, 2013, and announced a merger with US Airways Group. This strategic consolidation led to the formation of American Airlines Group Inc.
This resulted in the world’s largest airline by passengers carried and scheduled passenger-kilometers flown.
