Alameda Health System

Alameda Health System (AHS) is a comprehensive public healthcare provider and medical training institution located in the East Bay area of California. Established in 1864, AHS has evolved into a multifaceted organization dedicated to delivering high-quality medical care, health promotion, disease prevention, and health maintenance.

Operating under an independent board of trustees appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, AHS manages a network of hospitals, clinics, and health services throughout Alameda County.

Hospitals

• Highland Hospital: Located in Oakland, this hospital serves as the primary trauma center and county hospital for Alameda County. It is a Level I adult trauma center and operates the busiest emergency department in the county. The hospital is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco, and hosts the UCSF East Bay Surgery Program.

• Fairmont Rehabilitation & Wellness Center: Based in San Leandro, this center specializes in rehabilitation and wellness services, focusing on post-acute care and long-term rehabilitation.
• John George Psychiatric Hospital: Also in San Leandro, this hospital provides psychiatric care and services for individuals with mental health needs.
