About Ag Processing Inc

Ag Processing Inc (AGP) is a leading U.S. agribusiness cooperative specializing in the procurement, processing, marketing, and transportation of grains and grain products. Established in 1983, AGP has grown to become the world's largest cooperative soybean processor and a prominent supplier of refined vegetable oils in the United States.

Core Operations and Products

AGP operates ten soybean processing plants across the Midwest, including locations in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota. These facilities process soybeans into two primary products: soybean meal and crude soybean oil.

Soybean meal serves as a vital protein source in livestock feed, while crude soybean oil is further refined for use in the food industry and biofuels sector.

In addition to soybean processing, AGP operates four soybean oil refineries and three biodiesel production facilities. The biodiesel plants convert refined soybean oil into renewable, clean-burning biodiesel, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.

AGP also markets a range of agricultural products, including soybean hulls, AminoPlus® (a high-performance soy bypass protein for the dairy industry), distillers dried grains, wheat, corn, and soybeans.

Ownership and Cooperative Structure

As a farmer-owned cooperative, AGP is committed to the success of its members—local and regional cooperatives representing approximately 200,000 farmers throughout the United States.

The cooperative model ensures that profits are returned to the member-owners, supporting local communities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Locations and Facilities

AGP's operations span multiple states, with processing plants in:

  • Iowa: Eagle Grove, Emmetsburg, Manning, Mason City, Sergeant Bluff, Sheldon
  • Minnesota: Dawson
  • Missouri: St. Joseph
  • Nebraska: Hastings
  • South Dakota: Aberdeen, Omaha, NE, USA

The Hastings plant is notable as the first farmer-owned soybean processing facility in Nebraska.

Commitment to Sustainability and Community

AGP is dedicated to sustainability, focusing on processing agricultural commodities into value-added products using fewer resources.

The cooperative also invests in local communities, providing competitive markets for farmers, employment opportunities, and economic development in rural areas.

Through its integrated operations and cooperative structure, AGP plays a pivotal role in the U.S. agricultural sector, delivering high-quality products while supporting the livelihoods of farmers and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
